At the Annual General Meeting 2019, members reviewed the key developments that took place at AA Singapore in 2018.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\"\"AA Singapore held its Annual General Meeting 2019 on the evening of 8 May 2019 at YWCA (Fort Canning Lodge).<\/p>\n

The most significant piece of news shared by Mr Bernard Tay, President of AA Singapore in his welcome address, was the Association\u2019s upcoming move into the new AA Centre at 2 Kung Chong Road in the second half of 2019. The new building will house not only AA Singapore, but also its subsidiaries including AutoSwift Recovery, AAS Insurance Agency and AAS Academy. Located in the automotive cluster of Leng Kee and Alexandra, the new AA Centre will offer more convenience and seamless experiences members as well as the public.<\/p>\n

Mr Tay also announced the Association\u2019s digital transformation plans, which encompass the digital transition of Highway\u00a0<\/em>magazine from a print magazine into a digital publication, accessible via the Highway\u00a0<\/em>website (which you are now reading on!) and its mobile app on both Android\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/a>and iOS <\/a><\/strong><\/span>platforms. Members can also now use an electronic Membership Card<\/span> <\/a><\/strong>(known simply as the e-card) rather than a physical one, which will cease to be valid from 31 August 2019. This initiative was conceived as part of AA Singapore\u2019s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and bring greater flexibility and convenience to members.<\/p>\n

Developments within the Association\u2019s year of review include:<\/p>\n

Enhanced privileges for members<\/strong><\/p>\n

It negotiated with partner GetDoc to extend the GetDocPlus scheme<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>to members at no additional cost. GetDocPlus allows members to enjoy savings on health services, including preferential rates for dental services, health screenings, traditional Chinese medicine and chiropractic care.<\/p>\n

The Association secured a new car rental partner, JR Hokkaido Rent A Car, a car rental company in Hokkaido, Japan.<\/p>\n

Greater protection from AAS Insurance Agency (AAS-IA)<\/strong><\/p>\n

It increased its range of insurance products to offer customised business insurance packages for SMEs specialising in Office, Services, Retail, and Food & Beverage. Cost effective and flexible, these products allow for better management of risk exposure while protecting the business and their employees.<\/p>\n

The AA Personal Mobility Plus insurance was launched to protect PMD users and pedestrians. AA Personal Mobility Plus covers the insured for up to $50,000 in the event of accidental death or permanent disability. It provides up to $100,00 for personal liability claims and reimburses medical claims of up to $1,000 per person per policy year. A Family Plan version was also made available for families with multiple users.<\/p>\n

It unveiled its latest initiative in April 2019, \u00a0in collaboration with Liberty Insurance, to offer a new insurance policy for Young or New drivers<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, where their policy excess and premium loading is reduced by attending the Safe Driving Course conducted by AAS Academy. Drivers who install the DriveWell\u2122 app will also be rewarded with petrol vouchers.<\/p>\n

Updates from AutoSwift Recovery <\/strong><\/p>\n

It renewed a contract with Singapore Grand Prix to provide Race Circuit support during the Singapore Formula One races for two more years.<\/p>\n

It also signed a two-year agreement with Singapore Grand Prix to provide Traffic Support during the event.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

New training and funding from AAS Academy <\/strong><\/p>\n

Its Crash Prevention Course came under the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) enhanced funding scheme in June 2018. By exercising this scheme, Singaporeans and Permanent Residents can enjoy between 80% and 95% subsidy of their MOE-approved course fee.<\/p>\n

It conducted its first overseas training<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. This took place in Bangkok, Thailand, for French MNC Air Liquide\u2019s Safety Managers and Logistic Managers from seven different regions across Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n

New experiences in AUTOVENTURETM<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n

To mark the 10th<\/sup>anniversary of our annual AUTOVENTURETM\u00a0<\/sup>collaboration with Lianhe Wanbao<\/em>, the tour went beyond its usual Malaysia and Thailand route: the collaboration\u2019s first Fly-Drive trip brought a convoy of 38 cars and 98 participants to an 8D7N trip to Jeju Island and Seoul.<\/p>\n

There was also a 38-day drive to Fujian, China (1 October\u20137 November 2018) \u2014 the longest drive of 2018!<\/p>\n

A total of 33 motoring and lifestyle workshops and courses <\/a><\/strong><\/span>were held in 2018, including ever-popular courses such as Defensive Driving, Basic Car Maintenance Clinic, and Know Your Car, which were frequently organised for members.<\/p>\n

Organising Road Safety Events and Campaigns<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Association hosted the Overseas Safe Driving Forum in March 2018 to help the public prepare for a drive overseas, including recognising potential hazards and minimising risks. More than 300 local and overseas participants learnt from presentations by speakers based locally and overseas.<\/p>\n

Organised by Singapore Road Safety Council, the annual Singapore Road Safety Month took place in May 2018, and focused on engaging motorcyclists and heavy vehicle drivers. To support the campaign, AA Singapore and Taxi Baby co-organised a community children\u2019s car seat check to raise awareness of and promote the correct use of child safety restraints<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in vehicles in Singapore. In addition, AA Singapore and Taxi Baby joined forces with KK Women\u2019s and Children\u2019s Hospital to form the Childhood Injury Prevention Alliance.<\/p>\n

The Association participated in the Teck Ghee Road Safety Carnival<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>for Seniors and Families, held to educate residents of all ages on the importance of road safety through various activities, booths and demonstrations. Co-organised by the People\u2019s Association and Singapore Road Safety Council, Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong and other Grassroots Advisers graced the event.<\/p>\n

The Association continued its road safety efforts with Federation Internationale de l\u2019Automobile (FIA), and partnered Motor Sports Singapore at Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix to raise awareness of the #3500LIVESglobal campaign, educating event-goers through displayed road safety exhibits.<\/p>\n
