Applications will be assessed by Enterprise Singapore based on project scope, project outcomes, and competency of the service provider. There are no compulsory application fees required for schemes offered by ESG. FAQ Frequently Asked Questions What is EDG? EDG is the short form for Enterprise Development Grant. This grant was announced in the Annual Budget 2018. In short, EDG is a grant for established local SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises) to help them grow and transform their businesses. Has it started? Yes, Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) is officially launched on 25 October 2018. It replaces Capability Development Grant (CDG). How much funding can I get? You can get funding up to 70%. This means Enterprise Singapore may sometimes choose to fund only 50% of the project. It really depends on a number of factors. Who will approve EDG? EDG is under the new governmental agency called Enterprise Singapore, ESG in abbreviated form. ESG is a merged entity of SPRING and IE Singapore. They give the final green light to all grants.\u00a0 What is the maximum grant? That really depends on the scope of the project. The grant is correlated to the size of the company in terms of turnover and manpower. We do not have the exact algorithm nor science on this. Neither ESG will give you a definite answer on this. Strategic Brand and Marketing Development Financial Management Who can apply for EDG? Companies keen to apply for the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) should meet these criteria: Be registered and operating in Singapore Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding Be in a financially viable position to start and complete the project Are startups eligible for EDG? In general, startups\u00a0are not eligible for EDG.\u00a0If you are a startup, you can look at\u00a0the ecosystem meant for startups:\u00a0Startup SG network. Is there a minimum employee size? Our experience tells us that it should not be zero or just one. And the project sum must justify\u00a0the size of the company. A good number should be\u00a05 employees and they should not include directors, partners or owners. How long does a typical EDG project take? Depending on the scope\u00a0of your project, the timeline could range from 4\u00a0to 12\u00a0months. This includes time to establish proposed objectives and conduct research. Our typical branding project takes about\u00a04 to\u00a06 months. What do you mean by certified consultants? From 1 January 2017, if you engage consultants, they need to be\u00a0certified\u00a0management consultants.\u00a0 SMEs should ensure that consultants involved in EDG\u00a0must possess Enterprise Singapore-recognised certification; failing which Enterprise Singapore reserves the right not to support the consultancy fees incurred.
