Margaret carved a niche on the prepared piano and toy piano.\u00a0 Melvyn on the fortepiano and modern piano.<\/p>\n
Sadly, living professional lives overseas distanced them from Singapore for decades. This was a tremendous loss to a country that was transforming itself into a ‘renaissance arts city’.<\/p>\n
We decided to intervene.<\/p>\n
First we linked up with Melvyn and presented him in his debut concert in Singapore on 19 January 2011, thus ending his 30-year exile from Singapore. The Straits Times described it as an \u201cemotional and historic event\u201d, likening it to Horowitz\u2019s celebrated return to Russia.<\/p>\n
Then we re-introduced Margaret to Singapore securing engagements and a new commission with\u00a0 the Singapore International Festival of Arts for 2014-2015, breaking her 12-year hiatus from Singapore.<\/p>\n
The rest is history!<\/p>\n
Both artists have since been prominent features in the musical life of Singapore and the region. Welcomed back repeatedly to perform concerts in solo, ensemble or orchestral settings and in\u00a0regional performance tours, they also give back by sharing their knowledge and artistry with a new generation of music talents.<\/p>\n
Margaret and Melvyn have come full circle in Singapore, contributing to music excellence in a city that is now\u00a0very different from the one they left.<\/p>\n
