T-shirt quilts are our absolute favourite because not only will you be able to keep your old t-shirts, but you will also be able to get a nice, warm sleep! The best part of t-shirt quilts, however, is that they\u2019re a great outlet for creative thinking and design.<\/p>

T-shirt quilts are relatively simple to make. Typically, they only take a few hours to complete. Here’s what you’ll need and how to make your very own cosy t-shirt quilt.<\/p>

What You Need:<\/strong> <\/h3>

1. 15 – 20 pieces of old t-shirts<\/p>

2. Measuring tape<\/p>

3. A pair of scissors<\/p>

4. Pins and thread\/yarn<\/p>

5. Rotary cutter<\/p>

6. Sewing machine<\/p>

7. Iron and ironing board<\/p>

<\/div>

Instructions: <\/strong><\/h3>

Step 1: Plan the design of your quilt.<\/p>

Step 2: Wash, dry, and iron the old t-shirts that will be used to make your quilt.<\/p>

Step 3: Cut apart the t-shirts accordingly. <\/p>

Step 4: Lay out your t-shirt panels on a flat surface. <\/p>

Step 5: Trim the sides of your t-shirt panels using a rotary cutter.<\/p>

(<\/em>Note:<\/em><\/strong> Make sure to leave enough fabric around the edges for a 1\/2-inch seam allowance.)<\/em><\/p>

Step 6: When satisfied with the design of your quilt, secure them together with pins. <\/p>

Step 7: Sew the t-shirt panels together. <\/p>

2. T-shirt Pillows<\/strong><\/h1>

T-shirt pillows are yet another excellent way to recondition your favourite old tees. T-shirt pillows can be used as sofa, car, or even bedroom accessories in addition to being excellent snuggle buddies \u2013 let\u2019s face it, we all need one! <\/p>

T-shirt pillows, like t-shirt quilts, are quite easy to make. Here’s what you’ll need and a step-by-step guide on how to make your own t-shirt pillows.<\/p>

What You Need:<\/strong> <\/h3>

1. Old t-shirt<\/p>

2. Pillow filler (inserts or stuffing)<\/p>

3. A pair of scissors<\/p>

4. Pins and thread<\/p>

5. Sewing machine<\/p>

6. Iron <\/p>

<\/div>

Instructions: <\/strong><\/h3>

Step 1: Spread your old t-shirt out on a flat surface. <\/p>

Step 2: From the top of the left sleeve, cut a straight line down the entire left side of the t-shirt.<\/p>

Step 3: Repeat Step 2 on the right side of the t-shirt.<\/p>

Step 4: Cut a straight line across the top of the t-shirt (just below the neckline).<\/p>

Step 5: Cut a few inches off the top layer (front side) of the t-shirt at the bottom. <\/p>

(Note: Do not cut off the layer on the opposite side.)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Step 6: Set aside the top layer (the front of the t-shirt) and fold the bottom layer (the back of the t-shirt) in half before cutting through the centerfold.<\/p>

Step 7: Lay the front of the t-shirt flat (print side facing down), then place the two halves from Step 6 on top of it.<\/p>

(Note: The two halves will overlap one another in the centre.) <\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Step 8: Pin them in place and sew (after making sure to leave a slit in the centre).<\/p>

Step 9: Place your pillow filler inside.  <\/p>

3. T-Shirt Tote Bags <\/strong><\/h1>
\"\"\/<\/figure>

T-shirt tote bags are probably one of the best ways to recondition your old tees.<\/p>

For starters, t-shirt tote bags, while not as attractive as new ones, are much greener (environmentally-friendly) in principle than regular tote bags. T-shirt tote bags (like t-shirts) are also extremely lightweight, durable, and elastic. This means they can hold a lot of stuff and can conform to the shape of almost anything you try to shove into them. <\/p>

As for making them, they\u2019re actually much easier and faster to make than t-shirt quilts and pillows as there are ways to make them without the use of a sewing machine. Here’s how you can make one or more for yourself.<\/p>

What You Need:<\/strong> <\/h3>

1. Any old printed t shirts<\/a> <\/p>

2. A pair of scissors<\/p>

3. A bowl <\/p>

4. A black marker<\/p>

<\/div>

Instructions: <\/strong><\/h3>

Step 1: Wash and dry your old t-shirt thoroughly. <\/p>

Step 2: Lay it out on a flat surface.  <\/p>

Step 3: Cut off the sleeves on both sides of the t-shirt.<\/p>

Step 4: Place the bowl partially on the neckline of your t-shirt and trace around it with the black marker.   <\/p>

Step 5: Cut the shape out. <\/p>

Step 6: Cut 1-inch strips all the way across the bottom of your t-shirt.<\/p>

Step 7:  Turn your t-shirt inside out.<\/p>

Step 8: Tie the top and bottom strips together in a tight knot. Repeat for all of the strips across the bottom of your t-shirt.  <\/p>

Step 9: Tie the top strip to the bottom of the adjacent strip to close the gaps between each knot.  <\/p>

Step 10: When you’re finished, tie a double knot at both ends for reinforcement. <\/p>

There you have it \u2013 three easy ways to recondition your beloved old t-shirts!<\/p>
