Although they can come out any time of the day, they tend to creep out at night to feed and suck on the victim\u2019s skin and blood. Bedbug bites and saliva can trigger an immune response in the victim\u2019s skin, leading to an inflammatory response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bedbug bites are more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/singapore\/bed-bugs-treatment-awareness-singapore-hotels-homes-dormitories-3916956\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">common<\/a> [3] in people with poorer hygiene, lower socioeconomic status, and living in homeless shelters, hotels, and\/or hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent months, we have noted a global resurgence of bedbug infestations affecting major cities, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cntraveler.com\/story\/bedbugs-are-taking-paris-heres-what-you-need-to-know\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paris<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2023\/oct\/10\/bedbugs-real-source-concern-london-transport-sadiq-khan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">London<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/11\/11\/metro\/infested-apple-nyc-sees-revolting-surge-in-bed-bug-cases-in-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York<\/a>. Treatment includes antihistamines, topical steroids, and soothing moisturiser. In severe cases of bedbug bites, especially with an allergic reaction, your doctor may prescribe a short course of oral steroids to clear off the symptoms.
