For many people, working from home has become the new normal, and it’s a lifesaver for those who desperately need an additional hour of sleep or despise cramming into public transportation during rush hour.

When you sit for long periods of time, your back is generally the first area of your body to suffer. So search for a chair with lumbar or lower back support, which is typically provided by additional cushioning on the backrest. Not all office chairs have armrests, but they are useful since they provide additional support if you need to lean against something.

Consider the material as well. Leather is more costly and feels more luxury, but unless you plan on sitting in air con all day, a breathable material like mesh is preferable in Singapore’s humidity. Another feature to consider is versatility. It doesn’t matter how good a desk chair is if it’s too low or high. Armrests and tilt may be adjusted as well.
