Battlestar Galactica, named after the venerable science-fiction television program, is the spookiest ride at Universal Studios Singapore<\/a> (USS). On twin tracks that at one point during the ride twist upside-down and entwine into a helix, two turbo-charged roller coasters race by at 90 km\/h. You’ll get a little time to recover your breath at the top of the ride before you plummet 42.7 meters, or a terrifying 14 stories, to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USS has a variety of rides for children as well if you’re bringing the little ones. The children will “ride” a dragon that transports them through the wonders of the fairy tale paradise on the roller coaster Enchanted Airways, which is located in the mythical realm of Shrek. Revenge of the Mummy is another indoor roller coaster that is ideal for thrill-seekers as it hurtles past frightening mummies and scarab beetles in total darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before you see the drivers at this go-kart track, who are all dressed in full racing gear, you will be able to smell the bitumen burning and hear the buzz of the engines as they tear along a course designed by a FORMULA 1 track designer. To join their ranks and reach speeds of up to 110 km\/h, you’ll need your own car, although KF1 Karting also provides ‘fun kart’ trips (S$18-S$45).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have a driver’s license, you may drive the 18 turns of the course at 30 or 50 kilometers per hour; even kids who are taller than 1.4 meters can get in a go-kart. Do you still have plenty of energy after the race? Visit the neighboring Singapore Turf Club Riding Center to experience the excitement of riding a galloping horse, a different sort of beautiful animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Skyline Luge (S$18), you can ride a toboggan the size of a go-kart down the slopes of Sentosa<\/a>. Two specially constructed tracks are used in the trip, which starts at the top of Imbiah Lookout and travels 700 meters via twists and turns until arriving at the base of the hill. The luges are easy to operate\u2014gravity is their only power source\u2014and secure enough for kids to test them out on their own. Younger kids can ride a tandem luge with an adult as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit Skyline Luge after sunset for a more mesmerizing experience. The first Night Luge in the history of the planet takes control at that point, converting the rails into a wondrous forest that shines red, blue, and green.
