Damian Sia founded Motorist<\/a> after he tried selling his car on his own. As a first-time seller, he encountered many unreasonable offers from unethical buyers who wanted to take advantage of his inexperience. He was also unsure of the sales and vehicle transfer process, as there were several documents to submit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this experience, Damian decided that he wanted to help fellow drivers who were also new to vehicle transactions. He eventually came up with the idea of a reliable third-party platform where car owners could connect with certified and genuine buyers. Car owners can also seek advice and find professional help for any doubts they might have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, Motorist was born. To date, Motorist has assisted over 358,000 drivers and completed $469,000,000 in vehicle transactions securely and successfully. The company has also grown from a one-person team to a bustling company with over 50 employees. In 2018, Motorist decided to set its sights on expanding into the APAC market, starting with Malaysia. The company will also be taking its operations beyond vehicle transactions and focusing on the complete needs of drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Motorist is currently Singapore\u2019s most trusted automotive platform with 4.9\/5 stars on both Facebook and Google Review. The company also transacts the most number of cars in Singapore, handling an average of 400 cases each month.
In January 2019, the company successfully raised its first round of seed funding from JobsCentral\u2019s co-founders Der Shing Lim and Shao-Ning Huang, and Zopim\u2019s co-founder Royston Tay. The funds will be used to expand the company\u2019s operations in Thailand. Motorist currently has offices in Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

In 2020, Motorist successfully collaborated with the Singapore Traffic Police to develop Co-Driver<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available exclusively on the Motorist App, Co-Driver is an audio integration feature that\u2019s made to encourage safer driving among Singaporeans by discouraging reckless driving acts such as speeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drivers will be able to receive real-time audio alerts on the locations of the different types of traffic cameras planted across Singapore with data contributed by the Traffic Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-Driver is the only app in Singapore that provides you with alerts for Police Speed Laser Camera (PSLC), in addition to speed and red light cameras.
