This designation is important as it helps financial institutions and other regulated entities manage higher risks associated with potential money laundering or corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prominent public functions held by PEPs include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a head of state<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a head of government;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a government minister;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a senior politician;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a senior civil or public servant;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a senior government, judicial or military official;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a senior executive of a state-owned corporation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a senior political party official;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a member of the legislature; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a member of the senior management of an international organisation (including a director, deputy director or member of a board of the international organisation, or an equivalent appointment in the international organisation)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A &#8220;PEP&#8221; refers to any individual who is or has been entrusted with a prominent public function a foreign country.
