{"id":90,"date":"2022-10-18T13:47:41","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T05:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/help.law.com.sg\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=90"},"modified":"2026-07-20T12:43:52","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T04:43:52","password":"","slug":"do-i-need-a-certified-true-copy-of-my-deed-poll","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/help.law.com.sg\/faq\/do-i-need-a-certified-true-copy-of-my-deed-poll\/","title":{"rendered":"Do I need a certified true copy of my Deed Poll?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-is-a-certified-true-copy-ctc-of-my-deed-poll-necessary\"><strong>Is a certified true copy (CTC) of my Deed Poll necessary?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>certified true copy (CTC)<\/strong> is <strong>not always required<\/strong>, but it can be <strong>very useful<\/strong> when you need to provide proof of your name change to multiple institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend requesting a CTC if you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Want to keep your <strong>original Deed Poll safe<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Need to submit the Deed Poll to <strong>government bodies, banks, schools, or employers<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anticipate needing <strong>multiple verified copies<\/strong> for different purposes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-a-certified-true-copy\"><strong>What is a certified true copy?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A certified true copy is a <strong>duplicate of your original Deed Poll<\/strong> that has been:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Stamped and signed<\/strong> by our law firm; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verified to be a <strong>true copy of the original executed document<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is commonly accepted as a substitute for the original by most organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-typically-requires-a-certified-copy\"><strong>Who typically requires a certified copy?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Certified true copies may be requested by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Schools or the Ministry of Education (MOE)<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Banks, insurance companies<\/strong>, or <strong>employers<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Foreign embassies or consulates<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any agency that <strong>does not retain original documents<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some institutions may accept photocopies or soft-copy, but others require official certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-can-i-request-a-certified-true-copy-from-your-firm\"><strong>Can I request a certified true copy from your firm?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes.
