If you have a family member (P) who is lacking in mental capacity and does not have a valid LPA, the family may apply for urgent specific application(s) without the “full blown” MCA deputy application under s 20 of MCA. This is for uncontested application via IFAMS<\/a> for specific matters relating to P (under rule 176A of the Family Justice Rules). Lawyers may be appointed to assist in such application. Medical report and relevant documents are required for the application.<\/p>\n

Specific matters include the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To consent to medical treatment for P;<\/li>\n
  2. To consent to dental treatment for P.<\/li>\n
  3. To decide where and with whom P is to live;<\/li>\n
  4. To decide on care services for P;<\/li>\n
  5. To decide on travelling arrangements for P;<\/li>\n
  6. To open a bank account for P;<\/li>\n
  7. To close P\u2019s bank account;<\/li>\n
  8. To place P\u2019s money in fixed deposit accounts in P\u2019s bank;<\/li>\n
  9. To terminate GIRO arrangements linked to P\u2019s bank account;<\/li>\n
  10. To cancel P\u2019s credit cards;<\/li>\n
  11. To pay P\u2019s debts;<\/li>\n
  12. To rent out P\u2019s property;<\/li>\n
  13. To decide on upgrading or renovation of P\u2019s property;<\/li>\n
  14. To lodge a Notice of Death in respect of P\u2019s property;<\/li>\n
  15. To apply for a replacement Certificate of Title in respect of P\u2019s property;<\/li>\n
  16. To purchase insurance policies for P;<\/li>\n
  17. To place P\u2019s monies in a trust for P;<\/li>\n
  18. To apply to and\/or communicate with any Government agency or agency designated by the Government to administer the matter in question on behalf of P to the extent to which P would have been able to if P had mental capacity;<\/li>\n
  19. To obtain information relating to P;<\/li>\n
  20. To decide and act for P in relation to Central Provident Fund matters;<\/li>\n
  21. To receive monies paid to P on a regular basis by from the Central Provident Fund Board;<\/li>\n
  22. To enter into contracts for P;<\/li>\n
  23. To conduct legal proceedings in P\u2019s name or on P\u2019s behalf;<\/li>\n
  24. Provided that the total amount received is no more than $60,000, to do one or more of the following:\n
      \n
    1. To withdraw monies from P\u2019s bank account;<\/li>\n
    2. To receive P\u2019s moneys from the Central Provident Fund Board;<\/li>\n
    3. To surrender and\/or claim P\u2019s insurance monies;<\/li>\n
    4. To sell P\u2019s shares;<\/li>\n
    5. To sell P\u2019s motor vehicle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      A medical report filed by P\u2019s doctor in support of a specified matter application under Rule 176A is to be filed through the IFAMS portal under \u201cMental Capacity Act Application\u201d. In order to assist the Court, the medical report must be current and shall not be made:-<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. more than 6 months before the date of the application; and<\/li>\n
