With many planes grounded and airlines having to cut jobs as a cost-saving measure, it is the flight attendants who are hardest hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, Singapore Airlines, our national carrier, cut over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/news\/singapore\/singapore-airlines-group-cuts-jobs-retrenchment-covid-19-13098824\">4,000 positions across its three airlines last month<\/a>. In addition, thousands more who still remain employed are taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/transport\/6000-sia-group-staff-take-no-pay-leave-so-firm-can-cope-with-crisis\">no-pay leave<\/a> or having to find <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/news\/singapore\/singapore-airlines-sia-cabin-crew-retrench-layoff-jobs-13120950\">part-time jobs to earn additional income<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Singaporeans, we have always been proud of our award-winning SIA. We\u2019re happy to hear that the airline is finding new ways to generate revenue, including the very popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.singaporeair.com\/en_UK\/sg\/plan-travel\/discover-your-sia\/restaurant-a380-at-changi\/\">A380 dining experience<\/a>.
