Next Hotel Melbourne<\/a>, now a flagship of the Curio Collection by Hilton, isn’t just a place to rest \u2014 its focus on artworks, cocktails and music sets the tone here; while the property’s striking interiors take cues from the site’s history as a horse bazaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design Rooted in the Horse Bazaar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stepping off the cobblestones of Little Collins Street and into the hotel\u2019s understated lobby, one is immediately struck by a palette that feels both earthy and opulent. The site carries a curious history; in the late 19th century, this very ground was one of Melbourne\u2019s bustling Horse Bazaars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Architects Woods Bagot have paid homage to this equestrian lineage with subtle, sophisticated nods: “tack wall” inspired wardrobes, buttery leather armchairs, and bronze finishes that recall the hardware of a high-end stable. But the narrative doesn’t stop at the paddock. The design draws equally from the artistry of the neighbouring Chinatown and the couture houses of Collins Street. You\u2019ll find jade-green marbles, custom rugs with oriental motifs, and \u2014 perhaps most charmingly \u2014 bedheads upholstered in Chanel-inspired tweed. It is a masterclass in “business-meets-boutique” aesthetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
