A Phone for Safety, Not Independence<\/h3>

When I first gave my child a mobile phone, it wasn\u2019t about screen time or social media. It was about safety. I wanted to know they could reach me after school, during emergencies, or even just to say, \u201cI got home.\u201d Like many parents, I wasn\u2019t trying to open the door to the internet\u2014I was just trying to stay connected.<\/p>

It recognises something many of us have been navigating quietly\u2014that children are getting devices earlier, but that doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019re ready for fully independent digital lives.<\/p>

Balanced Control Without Overstepping<\/h3>

What reassures me is having a say in who can contact my child and what groups they can join. The ability to review message requests from unknown numbers gives me a layer of protection I didn\u2019t have before.<\/p>

At the same time, I appreciate that their conversations remain private. It\u2019s not about reading every message\u2014it\u2019s about creating a safer boundary while they learn how to communicate responsibly online.<\/p>

Guidance Over Control<\/h3>

This isn\u2019t about control for the sake of control. It\u2019s about guidance. About being present while they take their first steps into a digital world that can be overwhelming, even for adults.<\/p>

Giving my child a phone was a practical decision. But helping them use it safely\u2014that\u2019s an ongoing responsibility. And tools like this make that responsibility feel a little more manageable.<\/p>
