This license is issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to operate a Maid\u00a0Recruitment and Deployment business.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\">What documents are needed for a first-time employer?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>1) For Local employer<\/strong><strong>\u00a0(<\/strong>following details to process the maids work permit application):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identity Card (as well as those of members of his household)<\/li>\n<li>Proof of income in the form of Notice of Assessment (and that of the spouse if applicable) or his authority to the Ministry of Manpower to verify his income (and his spouse\u2019s if applicable) with the Internal Revenue Authority;<br \/>or if he has recently returned after an extended absence, a letter by an officer of the company he is attached to showing:<br \/>i. His position in the company<br \/>ii. His monthly income<br \/>iii. The date employment commences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If Notice of Assessment is not available and the Employer has not paid income tax in the current or previous year,<\/p>\n<p>1. his income tax assessment if he was working abroad AND<br \/>2. a statement from CPF showing his contribution for the last 3 months, if applicable.<br \/><strong>2) For\u00a0<\/strong>Expatriate\u00a0<strong>employer<\/strong><strong>\u00a0(<\/strong>following details to process the maids work permit application):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passport Copy- of self and members of the family<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Employment pass and dependent pass of family members living with him\/her<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\">How long does it take to get a maid from overseas?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Firstly, the application for a maid has to be completed correctly\u00a0to process the maid\u2019s\u00a0Work Permit. Following which it takes anywhere from one to\u00a0twelve\u00a0weeks for the maid to arrive and commence working. The maid arrival duration may\u00a0also depend\u00a0on the maid nationality.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\"> What is the maid levy and how much is it?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As per MOM\u00a0regulations, an employer needs to pay the maid\u2019s levy. The maid\u2019s levy\u00a0is a monthly tax\u00a0paid to the government\u00a0for every foreign domestic worker employed in the Singapore.\u00a0The levy is priced at\u00a0SGD$300.00 per month or SGD$10 per day, payable for the work permit validity period.<\/p>\n<p>For Singaporeans with young children 16years and below\u00a0or elderly\u00a0above 67 years of age\u00a0living under the same household, the government offers a concessionary rate of SGD 60.00 per month. The levy is collected by MOM.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\">Which countries can I employ a maid from?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can only employ maids from MOM approved countries for Foreign Domestic Workers (FDW). These countries are: Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. The Latest Additional Country would be Cambodia (From October 2016)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\">What is a security bond and how much is it?<\/a><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<main role=\"main\"><\/p>\n<section>\n<p>The employer is responsible for the repatriation of the maid once the usual contract of 2 years expires, unless it is renewed. He\u00a0is\u00a0required to post a security deposit (bond) of $5,000 for every maid with the Work Permit Department, MOM. The minimum sum insured is $60,000. You can purchase such insurance with various options with different Insuring Agencies.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\">Do maids need to undergo medical check ups and if so, how often?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>All Maids are required to go for medical check up\u00a0in Singapore within 14 days from her arrival date.\u00a0She must get herself examined by a certified medical institution and can only be deemed fit for work if she passes her medical test. Subsequently,\u00a0medical examinations are\u00a0required every six\u00a0months for the medical screening\u00a0for VDRL, pregnancy, and HIV. It is the employer\u2019s responsibility to bring the maid for the 6 monthly check up.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"\">Who would bear the medical expenses of the maid?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An Employer is liable to pay the full cost of the medical expenses, including hospitalization.
