Starting 15 April, the Singapore government will roll out a new financial support program designed to assist lower- and middle-income residents who are currently unemployed. This is a massive sigh of relief for those who need it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support (JS) scheme, eligible individuals can receive up to $6,000 in temporary financial assistance over a period of six months. This initiative is designed to ease the economic pressure on those who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To qualify, applicants must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have a gross monthly income of $5,000 or less<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live in a property with an annual value of $31,000 or below<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have worked in Singapore for at least six of the past twelve months<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, there\u2019s flexibility for those who became involuntarily unemployed on or after 1 April 2024. For these individuals, they may still be eligible even if they don&#8217;t meet the work history requirement, as long as they meet the other conditions. This move is part of a broader push to provide meaningful financial support during periods of unemployment.
