World Diabetes Day\u00a0is celebrated annually on 14th<\/sup>\u00a0November and the theme for this year is \u201cFamily and Diabetes: Diabetes concerns every family<\/em><\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease in which the body has high blood sugar level, either because the body does not produce enough insulin or because the body\u2019s cells do not respond properly to insulin or both.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2 Major Causes of Diabetes:<\/p>\n

  1. Diabetes Type 1:\u00a0<\/strong>It develops\u00a0when the insulin-producing cells in the body have been destroyed and the body is unable to produce any insulin. The exact cause\u00a0of diabetes type 1 is still unknown but genetic is a big factor.<\/li>\n
  2. Diabetes Type 2:\u00a0<\/strong>It develops when the insulin-producing cells in the body are unable to produce enough insulin, or when the insulin that is produced does not work properly. This type of diabetes can be inherited by family member or cause by unhealthy lifestyle factors such as obesity or poor diet.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Long-term complications of diabetes develop gradually. The longer you have diabetes\u00a0and the less controlled your blood sugar,\u00a0the higher the risk of complications.\u00a0Possible complications include:<\/p>\n
