Why is it so difficult for people to have the death conversation?<\/p>\n

Because it\u2019s scary to think of yourself being separated from your loved ones? Having to leave this world with regrets? The unknown process of death? The bad-luck perception of death?<\/p>\n

The fear of these feelings resulted in the fear of death, and thus the reluctance to talk about death.<\/p>\n

Have the Talk of a Lifetime<\/a>\u00a0is a campaign run by Funeral and Memorial Information Council (FAMIC). \u00a0This campaign aims to have family members\u00a0talk about everything. Have them share their big events and small victories in life.\u00a0But most importantly, the one conversation that they probably haven\u2019t had: to have the talk about they want to be remembered.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0It can make the difference of a lifetime.<\/p>\n

Sharing stories with those who matter most isn\u2019t just important today; it will be especially significant when it\u2019s time to commemorate a life.\u00a0Have the Talk of a Lifetime\u00a0encourages families to have conversations about life and what matters most. These discussions can help families make important decisions about how they wish to remember and honor the lives of their loved ones.<\/em><\/p>\n

Through meaningful memorialization \u2014 that is, taking time to reflect on the unique life of a loved one and remember the difference they made \u2014 families and friends take an important step in the journey toward healing after death. Today, individuals and their families have more options for memorializing their loved one at the end of life.<\/em><\/p>\n

Memorialization is so much more than it used to be. It can reflect a person\u2019s life story, their values, interests, and experiences. It is transformative, healing, and comforting. Meaningful memorialization planning starts when loved ones talk about what matters most: memories made, lessons learned, and how they hope to be remembered.<\/em><\/p>\n
