However, if you&#8217;re cleaning the edges of your carpet with your presoak and cleaning solution, you need to be sure that it is safe and natural. Because some presoaks can damage the color of your carpet. You may consider using a color remover before putting on the presoak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To clean the edges of your carpet with a presoak, take a sponge or cloth and wipe it along the edge of the carpet in just one direction. If you have any spills on the carpet, make sure you clean those as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use an upholstery cleaner instead of liquid soap and detergent if your carpets are made from synthetic fibers. You can also use this method to clean the entire carpet instead of only the edges. All you need to do is take your steam cleaner and run it along the edge of your carpet in long sweeps. Then afterward, you can use a machine that attracts dirt to get rid of any excess spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Use_an_Edge_Cleaner\"><\/span>5: Use an Edge Cleaner<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use an edge cleaner for your edges. However, this may not necessarily be the best way to approach cleaning the edges of your carpets. Because it will only clean about half of the edge at a time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a lot of edges to clean, it will probably take you longer than if you cleaned them all at once. But if you&#8217;ve got an area rug, this can be an excellent way to clean only the outside edge of your carpet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same method goes for an area rug for steam cleaners. You can use the edge cleaner on one side and then use a vacuum cleaner on the other to get rid of any excess residue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Use_Edges_Yourself\"><\/span>6: Use Edges Yourself<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can always use your hands and fingers to clean out any dirt and grime along the sides. You need to be sure that you&#8217;re using something like a soft cloth or a paper towel that&#8217;s very absorbent. As you want it to absorb as much dirt and grime as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Put your finger along the edge of the carpet in long sweeps while moving away from the carpet you&#8217;re cleaning. This way, you don&#8217;t risk leaving behind water marks or something similar. Just make sure that you&#8217;re using something soft and absorbent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Use_a_Damp_Cloth_to_Clean_the_Edges\"><\/span>7: Use a Damp Cloth to Clean the Edges<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also go the dry cloth route if cleaning your edges isn&#8217;t your thing. You can use a damp cloth, a sponge, or even paper towels if you want. Wipe it along the edge of your carpet in one direction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This method will work similarly to a prewash stain remover with a presoak. Because it will remove any excess dirt or stains that might have been left behind on the carpet itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may want to do this once per week so as not to damage your carpet fibers over time.
