The power of plants

The shea tree grows on the savannahs of Africa where it is considered sacred. By tradition, women are the sole “guardians” of this magic tree which must not be cut down or damaged and it is they who gather the shea nuts which are transformed into shea butter and shea oil.

Skincare Benefits of Shea unsaponifiable (organic plant)

In cosmetics, the precious part of shea butter known as shea unsaponifiables (organic plant), is used to soothe and protect the skin.

Responsible sourcing

Protecting the soil and biodiversity is a longstanding commitment at Clarins. That’s why we have always given priority to plant-based active ingredients sourced from organic agriculture, grown using sustainable farming methods that respect nature and the health of the soil. The shea tree is an organically-certified plant and the extract we use in our products is obtained using a natural and environmentally-friendly method.
