[/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=”Do I need to get a referral via my GP to see an osteopath?”]No. Although if you are claiming insurance, some policies require that you see your GP first. Please check the protocol with your insurers.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Will the treatment hurt?”]There may be some slight discomfort with certain techniques and you might feel a little stiff or sore after the treatment for up to a couple of days. This is a perfectly normal response to the treatment. At all stages of your treatment, the osteopath will tell you what to expect.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Do you take medical insurance?”]We accept all medical insurance if osteopathy is covered on your policy. However, we do not claim directly on your behalf, but will provide you with a receipt with which you may claim back the cost of treatment from your provider.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What should I wear?”]You may be asked to remove enough clothing for the therapist to conduct a thorough assessment and treatment. Gowns and shorts are provided at the clinic but feel free to bring your own sports wear if you prefer.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I bring someone with me?”]Yes, you are welcome to bring a friend or relative with you.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How many treatments will I need?”]This will depend on what we are treating you for. Each patient will be treated as an individual, so therefore it is not possible to suggest a general number of required treatments. At your consultation, the therapist will indicate the likely treatment duration when explaining the clinical findings.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Regulation of Osteopathy”]The title ‘Osteopath’ is protected by law and practitioners have to be registered with the General Osteopathic Council, (GOsC) to practise in the UK. It is a criminal offence for anyone to claim to be an Osteopath unless they are on the GOsC register.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Do Osteopaths just treat back pain?”]Osteopathy is a holistic system of medicine which addresses all areas of the body, depending on the root cause of the symptomatic complaint. We aim to correct any imbalances or disturbances restricting your body from its natural healing process. In the process of an Osteopathic treatment, we will address various parts of your body, not just the problematic area in order to prevent recurrences rather than to just provide temporary relief.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Is treatment suitable for me?”]If you have any doubts about the suitability of osteopathic treatment for yourself or questions about osteopathic treatment, please call one of the osteopaths. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are there additional investigations or treatments?”]Following treatment, your therapist may decide that additional investigations such as X-ray, scans or blood tests are required, in which case you will be referred to the necessary health professional.[/vc_toggle][/vc_column][/vc_row]
