Eyebag appear as a result of fat bulging from the orbit due to septum laxity. This may occur in young patients who has a familial or hereditary predisposition, stress or lack of sleep and in older patients due to ageing or degeneration. In Young patients, there is usually no excess skin but in the older patients, it is accompanied by skin excess and appearance of wrinkles. It makes a person appear tired. Eyebag Removal or Lower Blepharoplasty is the surgical procedure to rejuvenate the eyes.<\/p>

What is Scarless Eye bag Removal Surgery?<\/strong>
The transconjunctival approach to remove eye bags is also called the Scarless Eye bag Removal Surgery or Scarless Lower Blepharoplasty. A small cut is made inside the lower eyelid to trim some excess fat that is bulging. The lower eyelid skin and muscle will fall back and redrape to give a natural look without any external scar. Our surgeon uses a laser for cutting during the surgery for more precision and to reduce bleeding intraoperatively. The swelling and bruising after the surgery is thus minimized and the recovery time is shorter.<\/p>

This method is extremely suitable for young patients who have no or minimal excess skin. It also significantly reduces the risk of complications like ectropion, scleral show and change in the shape of the eyes, which is more commonly associated with conventional external approach due to excessive removal of skin and muscle or weakening the wall of the lower eyelid.<\/p>

However if there is excess skin in older patients, the excess skin may be trimmed at the same time through a subciliary approach or incision below the eyelashes. The removal of some skin help to reduce static wrinkles in the lower eyelid. The resultant scar usually resolves over time and not noticeable.<\/p>

How long is the procedure? What is the recovery time?<\/strong><\/p>

The procedure takes about 1 to 1.5 hours under local anaesthesia. There will be swelling for the first 2-3 days and subsides thereafter. Some bruise is expected for 1 -2 weeks. Generally, patient may return to work after 1 week.
