APA ITU TIMOMA DAN KARSINOMA KELENJAR TIMUS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Timoma dan Karsinoma Timus adalah dua jenis kanker langka yang dapat terbentuk di sel yang menutupi permukaan luar kelenjar timus. Kelenjar timus adalah organ yang ada di mediastinum (di belakang tulang dada) dan berfungsi hingga pubertas dan bertanggung jawab atas imunitas yang dimediasi sel-T. Kelenjar timus kemudian berinvolusi dan menghilang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jika kelenjar tetap ada, ini dapat menyebabkan tumor yang disebut \"Thymoma\". Ini terkait dengan penyakit lain seperti Myasthenia Gravis, Rheumatoid Arthritis Sjogren's Syndrome, dan Hypogammaglobulinemia. Ini jarang terjadi dan menyumbang kurang dari 1% dari semua kanker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

90% kanker yang terbentuk di timus adalah Timoma, sementara 10% di antaranya bisa berupa Karsinoma Timus, Limfoma, atau tumor Karsinoid. GEJALA DAN DIAGNOSIS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pada sekitar 25% kasus Timoma & Karsinoma Timus, pasien tidak menunjukkan gejala. Mereka biasanya terdeteksi ketika pasien diperiksa untuk hal-hal lain atau selama rontgen dada rutin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beberapa gejala termasuk nyeri dada, batuk, dan kondisi saluran napas bagian atas. Mereka juga dapat berhubungan dengan Myasthenia Gravis dan pasien mungkin mengalami kelemahan otot, kelelahan atau sesak napas atau kesulitan menelan, serta anemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sebagian besar diagnosa dilakukan dengan bantuan CT scan dan tidak memerlukan biopsi. Tetapi jika hasil scan tidak meyakinkan maka biopsi akan dilakukan jika ada kecurigaan Thymic Carcinoma, jika tumornya besar atau jika ada penyakit lain yang terkait seperti limfoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

If the tumour is a large and the risk of local recurrence is highly then adjuvant radiotherapy will be offered to the patient after discussion with the radiation oncologist.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chemotherapy<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

Chemotherapy is used in patients with thymic carcinoma or who have advanced stage for thymoma or recurrent cancers which are not resectable. Sometimes they can be used before surgery to shrink the tumour size.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Immunotherapy<\/span><\/i><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>

This new form of treatment is still in the trial stage but can be used in certain cases of advanced cancer as the adjuvant or primary treatment to help get control over the disease. This conversation can be done with the medical oncologist and the treatment protocol can be decided between the surgeon, a medical oncologist and the patient.Details of this therapy will be discussed with the medical oncologist who will review your case.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
