Doer &amp; Receiver<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D<em>oer <\/em>refers to the person performing the action while <em>receiver<\/em> refers to the person who is on the receiving end of an action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rules run thus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whenever you&#8217;re referring to the <em>doer<\/em>, use who.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conversely, when you&#8217;re referring to the <em>receiver<\/em>, use whom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back to our examples&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example A: [Who\/whom] is responsible for these doodles of dainty dugongs on my worksheet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doer: the unknown doodle artist<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Answer: <strong>who<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.wixstatic.com\/media\/20410b_c0b18465c0fd42ba910544bbe36ae8e2~mv2_d_2000_1518_s_2.jpg\/v1\/fill\/w_360,h_273,al_c,q_80,usm_0.66_1.00_0.01,enc_auto\/20410b_c0b18465c0fd42ba910544bbe36ae8e2~mv2_d_2000_1518_s_2.jpg\" alt=\"psle best english enrichment\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example B: [Who\/whom] is Stephy riding dugongs with?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doer: Stephy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Receiver: Stephy&#8217;s riding companion<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Answer: <strong>whom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example C: Jamie is an artist [who\/whom] who will never be good at drawing dugongs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doer: Jamie<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Answer: <strong>who<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example D: Salik is the conservationist [who\/whom] Abu will entrust the task of saving dugongs to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doer: Abu (the person doing the entrusting)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Receiver: Salik (the person entrusted with the task)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Answer: <strong>whom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. He\/she\/they versus him\/her\/them<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rules run thus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the sentence is a question and the answer to that question involves he\/she\/they, use <strong>who<\/strong>. If the answer involves him\/her\/them, use <strong>whom<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If it&#8217;s a sentence and the person of interest can be replaced with he\/she\/they, use <strong>who<\/strong>. If the person of interest can be replaced with him\/her\/them, use <strong>whom<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back to our examples&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example A: [Who\/whom] is responsible for these doodles of dainty dugongs on my worksheet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Possible reply: He\/She is responsible for these doodles of dainty dugongs on my worksheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wrong reply: Him\/Her is responsible for these doodles of dainty dugongs on my worksheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Answer: <strong>who<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example B: [Who\/whom] is Stephy riding dugongs with?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Possible reply: Stephy is riding dugongs with him\/her\/them.
