Battery: the main reason to buy

The BlueVolt battery uses fourth-generation silicon anode technology, and vivo lists the rated capacity at 9,800mAh. In vivo's lab tests it keeps at least 80% capacity after 1,400 full cycles, which vivo puts at about seven years of use. The 44W charger is in the box, and reverse charging lets the phone top up other devices. vivo also earned a Guinness World Records title for a 32-hour, 37-minute battery testing livestream.

Display and performance

The 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED screen supports HDR10+ and reaches 2,000 nits, which helps in direct sun. The 120Hz rate works in apps that support it. Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e with 5G and dual SIM, cooled by a 3,800mm² vapour chamber. AI SuperLink also boosts low-frequency signal in weaker coverage areas.

The vivo V80 Lite has 6GB or 8GB of physical RAM. vivo's 18GB and 24GB labels include an extra 12GB or 16GB of extended RAM, which borrows space from your storage. Since storage can't be expanded with a card, the 256GB model is the better choice for more storage if you plan to shoot a lot of video.

Cameras

A 50MP Sony IMX852 main camera leads the rear setup, with a 2MP bokeh camera beside it. The 32MP front camera has a 90° wide-angle view for group selfies. Check-in Watermark stamps time and location, and AI Erase removes stray passersby.

Design and durability

The vivo V80 Lite is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance under IEC 60529. vivo indicated it passed five MIL-STD-810H tests: high temperature, low temperature, rain, sand and dust, and shock. In a separate vivo lab test, the phone's core functions and screen kept working after a 3-metre drop onto carpet. vivo notes that these results come from controlled conditions, and that water resistance is not permanent and can reduce with daily wear. The phone weighs 224g, measures 8.59mm thick, and comes with a case and a pre-applied screen film.

Software

It runs OriginOS 6 on Android 16, with Origin Island, Google Gemini, AI Captions, Office Kit and Private Space for work apps and files.

Who should get the vivo V80 Lite?

If you care more about how long your phone lasts than how light it feels, the vivo V80 Lite 5G is worth a look. The 10,000mAh battery and IP68/IP69 rating make sense for students, delivery riders, frequent travellers, and anyone who's had enough of carrying a power bank. It does weigh 224g, so keep that in mind if you prefer a lighter phone.
