Incisions are made along the upper and lower eyelids around the outer corner of the eye. The outer corner of the eye is opened, and a flap of upper eyelid skin is relocated to maintain the opening of the outer corner. The wounds are carefully closed with fine sutures. The strategic placement of the incisions results in fine scars that are hardly visible once they have faded.<\/p>      <\/div>\n\n    \n      \n      <div class=\"e230-11 x-tabs-panel  \" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"tab-230-11\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-x-toggleable=\"tab-item-230-11\" id=\"panel-230-11\" >\n        <p>Postoperative pain is mild and well controlled with oral painkillers. There will be mild swelling and bruising. Stitches will be removed after one week. You will need to apply antibiotic ointment to your wounds for the first ten days. After this you can start wearing eye makeup and this can effectively camouflage the residual swelling and bruising so that you don&rsquo;t need to wear sunglasses to conceal your eyes anymore. So the effective downtime is about ten days. Exercise may be resumed after three weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Although this procedure requires incisions and produces scars, the scars tend to fade very well and become inconspicuous by three to six months.<\/p>      <\/div>\n\n    \n      \n      <div class=\"e230-12 x-tabs-panel  \" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"tab-230-12\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-x-toggleable=\"tab-item-230-12\" id=\"panel-230-12\" >\n        <p>In expert hands, this is a safe procedure, with minimal blood loss and risk of infection.
