will we .............. in the future?

Will we cartwheel in the future?
What about sharpening pencils or doing laundry?
Will we have families?
Will we know how to have fun and make friends in the future?

Ten child artists (aged 8 to 12) collaborated with Rolypoly Family to discuss what they envision in their adult lives, and the skills they may need for the future.

Their artworks–spanning from watercolour sketches to story books, animation, PowerPoint slides and a dance video–are the outcome of an 11-month creative process of Zoom meetings, excursions and artmaking workshops; facilitated by a team of adult artists (aged 35-55), including Bernice Lee, Faye Lim and Veronyka Lau, who sought to listen deeply to the children’s voices and viewpoints.

As the school year ends, and holidays begin (yay!), come hang out with artists young and old, and, together, imagine futures that are better and kinder, and take steps today to become good ancestors.

will we ………….. in the future? is presented by Rolypoly Family with support from the National Arts Council, Tote Board Arts Fund and Objectifs, and is held conjunction with the Objectifs Junior Festival 2026.

About Rolypoly Family

Established in 2018, Rolypoly Family, led by Faye and Bernice, provides a safe, respectful and imaginative space for children and families to dance and play. With extensive professional backgrounds in performing, creating and teaching, Faye and Bernice incorporate their love for dance and movement, with their expertise in facilitation and pedagogy, in Rolypoly Family’s classes and programmes. They believe that playing and dancing are important components of life, and in our modern society inundated with tech and instant gratification, children and families can benefit from more playing and dancing.

The Rolypoly Family name is a statement of these beliefs–that families come in all shapes and sizes, that kinship can grow through creative and physical play (yes, rolling!), and that rhyming is as fun in language as in dance.
