As we reach the middle of Leo season—with everyone else averting their eyes from Leo’s intense glitz and glamour—we also feature one of OOm’s Leo who has always been burning with passion, like its ruling planet, the Sun. Today, we “revolve” around the biggest star the galaxy has ever seen, and become enchanted with his music, sense of style, boldness, and more: Carlo Angelo Suñga!

Describe your role in OOm.

I’m a content writer who focuses on creating quality content for articles. It’s basically blogging, but for digital marketing.

What do you think is your biggest strength in OOm?

Writing. Other than that, I have yet to discover my potential for greater things in OOm.

What characteristics do you value the most in your coworkers?

Respect. There’s no sign of disrespect among our team despite our differences with our deals and beliefs. Other than that, we’re also open to helping each other while working—something that’s definitely needed at any workplace.

What are the three key characteristics of the boss for whom you would do your best work?

Honesty, integrity, and understanding. These three virtues are what you need to become a great leader, not just inside the office.

What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?

Besides writing, I’m looking towards creating opportunities for myself.

We understand that you love comics and superheroes. For you, if all the superheroes went to battle against each other, who do you think would win? Why?

In reality, they’d never fight each other. All the superheroes would probably shake hands and befriend each other. But if we’re going to be hypothetical, I’m not really sure—but I would really want Superman to win just because he’s my favourite.

Technically, Dr. Manhattan has a good chance of winning—if you count him as a superhero. He’s basically a god or anti-hero.

""

If past lives are real, what might be yours?

I hope in the past, I was a koala. Why? Because they’re always so lazy and calm all the time. Who wouldn’t want to be so chill 24 hours a day?

What’s your favourite book/movie of all time and why did it speak to you so much?

There are so many films that resonate with me, it’s hard to tell which one is my favourite. I have two favourites: Goodfellas and Oldboy.

Goodfellas, directed by the great Martin Scorcese, is just freakin’ brilliant. It spoke to me so much because it’s one of the first films that gave me a wider perspective on cinema as a whole. Brilliant acting and topnotch story-telling are what spoke to me the first time I watch it.

As for Oldboy, the classic South Korean film by Park Chan-wook, it’s based on a manga of the same title. I found the film remarkable because it made me sympathise with the protagonist on so many levels. Choi Min-sik, who acted as the lead character, should be considered as one the this generation’s actors based on this film alone. Thanks to his brilliant performance and the film’s great cinematic elements, Oldboy is one of my favourite films ever.

Show me a music track or a scene from a film that made you tear up.

There are two scenes that come into mind. Spoilers ahead, so tread carefully!

First, Saving Private Ryan. The whole film was filled with tear-jerking moments, but the ending is what really got the best of me. I cried at the end when the scene showed an old-aged Ryan—after telling his story during World War 2—is standing over the grave of his former Captain. It turns out that Captain Miller sacrificed his own life just for Ryan to live a fruitful life with his family.Second, this isn’t technically a film but rather a TV show, but this scene (and track) still haunts me up to this day. It’s the closing scene of “Shut Up and Dance” from Black Mirror, where—spoilers ahead—after a long day of being blackmailed, it’s revealed that Kenny, the protagonist, was a paedophile all along. Cue the perfect song “Exit Music (For A Film)” by Radiohead, and you’ve got one of the best closing scenes in Black Mirror history. The ending was so atmospheric and sombre, thanks to Radiohead’s brilliant song as well.

What do you love about OOm?

Stability and potential. Here at OOm, I feel like I’m destined to become someone better career-wise. I look forward to discovering more things about myself so I can continue to hone my skills as a content writer.
