{"id":46661,"date":"2023-02-15T23:01:52","date_gmt":"2023-02-15T15:01:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.singaporedivorcelawyer.com.sg\/?p=46661"},"modified":"2025-09-10T14:44:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T06:44:47","slug":"mandatory-co-parenting-programme-cpp-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.singaporedivorcelawyer.com.sg\/mandatory-co-parenting-programme-cpp-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Mandatory Co-Parenting Programme (CPP) 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"jumper-bigtext\">The Mandatory Parenting Programme (MPP), which was introduced in December 2016 to support a child-centric divorce and to protect affected children better, has been renamed to the Mandatory Co-Parenting Programme (CPP) in 2023 to emphasise to parties the critical need for amicable co-parenting after the divorce.<\/p>\n<p>The contents of the programme remain the same with its new name as it continues to help parties cope with and provide them with information to co-parent after the divorce.<\/p>\n<p>Under the Women\u2019s Charter, it will be mandatory for you to complete the CPP if:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"blogpost\">\n<li>You intend to commence Divorce Proceedings or file a Counterclaim;<\/li>\n<li>You have a child below 21 years old; and<\/li>\n<li>You cannot agree with your spouse regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.singaporedivorcelawyer.com.sg\/common-reasons-divorce-singapore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>grounds for divorce<\/strong><\/a> or on any ancillary matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CPP must be attended before the commencement of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.singaporedivorcelawyer.com.sg\/divorce-proceedings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Divorce Proceedings<\/a><\/strong> or before the filing of a Counterclaim.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"blogpost\">The CPP consists of two components:<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"lower-roman\">\n<li>Online e-learning, which has self-assessment tools that will help you better understand your marital situation, your co-parenting relationship and your children\u2019s needs (estimated to be about 1.5 hours); and<\/li>\n<li>After completing the e-learning, you are invited to book a mandatory individual or couple consultation within six months of completing the online e-learning. The consultation will be with a counsellor at a <strong>Strengthening Families Programme@FSC<\/strong> (<em>Fam@FSC<\/em>) or a <strong>Divorce Support Specialist Agency<\/strong> (<em>DSSA<\/em>) (<em>estimated to be about 1 hour<\/em>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Completing the CPP should not significantly prolong the divorce proceeding, as we will concurrently prepare and obtain the necessary supporting <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.singaporedivorcelawyer.com.sg\/filing-divorce-documents-file-service-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documents for your divorce application<\/a><\/strong>. We can assist you with the application.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">Do I have to inform my spouse about my CPP participation?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>No.<\/strong> The CPP e-learning and consultation can be completed individually. However, if you wish to attend the couple consultation, both you and your spouse must have completed the CPP e-learning prior to attending the couple consultation.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">Can I opt out of CPP?<\/h4>\n<p>If you do, you will not be able to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.singaporedivorcelawyer.com.sg\/can-you-divorce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">file for a divorce<\/a><\/strong>. If your spouse has filed for a divorce, you will not be able to file a Counterclaim to the divorce.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">Do I have to attend with my spouse?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>No.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">What documentation do I need?<\/h4>\n<p>You will need:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"lower-roman\">\n<li>your SingPass account details,<\/li>\n<li>your identification information,<\/li>\n<li>your contact number and<\/li>\n<li>a mailing address.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">Do I have to pay any fees?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>No.<\/strong> Both the application and the e-learning consultation are free of charge.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">How will appointing a lawyer assist me with my application?<\/h4>\n<p>Our lawyers can advise and assist you in your application for CPP and ensure that all matters are dealt with efficiently and effectively.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">Can my lawyer attend the couple or individual consultation on my behalf?<\/h4>\n<p><strong>No.<\/strong> You must attend the consultation personally.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">What if I live outside of Singapore?<\/h4>\n<p>Special arrangements can be made for the consultation to be conducted virtually.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogpost\">What if I am not able to complete the CPP in English?<\/h4>\n<p>If you are unable to complete the CPP in English, you may also complete it in Mandarin or Tamil.
