In popular culture, queer women rarely get to take centre stage. They seldom headline blockbuster movies and they don\u2019t star in breakout television shows like Drag Race<\/em> or Queer Eye<\/em>. Lesbian slang has not become part of everyday conversation, and it can be hard to name a lesbian anthem. Sometimes, mainstream media pretends that queer women just don\u2019t exist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Girls Girls Girls <\/em>is here to change all that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on interviews with diverse voices from this evolving community, ranging from baby dykes to queer elders, this verbatim theatre play shines a spotlight on the lives of queer women in Singapore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do queer women define their culture? Is their supposed invisibility in public spaces an advantage or a drawback? How do queer women challenge the stereotypes that plague their community, and how do they find themselves and their chosen families in a conservative society? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conjunction with Pride Month, Wild Rice proudly presents this touching and illuminating tapestry of true stories \u2013 from a singer to a stand-up comedian, from a burlesque dancer to a Paralympian, from mothers who raise children to \u201caunties\u201d who travel the globe. Girls Girls Girls<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>is the myth-busting, soul-affirming oral history project that Singapore never knew it needed… until now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
