Our mission is to provide a platform for youths to make and present theatre that speaks to and for people of their own generation.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Participants will gain first-hand experience of how to make theatre \u2013 from writing and directing to performing. At the end of the programme, participants will stage an original production under the guidance and direction of a professional creative team.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>No prior acting or theatre-making experience is necessary. Interested candidates should submit their application by <b>12 noon on Wednesday, 6 March 2024<\/b>, to book an audition slot on a first come, first served basis:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A recent picture of yourself<\/li>\n<li>Your contact details<\/li>\n<li>A simple write-up of no more than 150 words on why you are keen to join this programme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>2. You are required to prepare and memorise one short monologue. The monologue should be between <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">1-2 minutes in length<\/span> and should be selected from published plays only.<\/p>\n<p>3.&nbsp;Candidates will also be asked to do a cold read, with a script that\u2019s provided during the audition \u2013 no preparation will be necessary.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>4. We just want the opportunity to get to know you better by hearing you read something written for the stage. This is, after all, a programme for aspiring theatre-makers to <em>learn <\/em>together.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>If you need any suggestions for monologues, please let us know and we\u2019ll be happy to suggest a few that you may be interested in.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading {\"level\":5} --><\/p>\n<h5><strong>ABOUT THE PROGRAMME DIRECTORS<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><!-- \/wp:heading --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\"><strong>Thomas Lim<\/strong> is an award-winning writer, director and arts educator. His work spans across genres and languages, including plays, musicals and short films performed in Teochew, Mandarin, Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, English and Pig Latin. His professional debut, <i>Grandmother Tongue, <\/i>was a semi-autobiographical tribute to his Teochew-speaking grandmother. Subsequent writing credits include <i>Supervision<\/i>\u00a0and <i>Straight Acting<\/i>, the former of which was nominated for Production of the Year and won Best Original Script at the Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards. Musical pantomimes include <i>Peter Pan in Serangoon Gardens <\/i>and <i>Pinocchio. <\/i>Thomas is also an established arts educator with over a decade of experience working with students and young people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ezzat Alkaff<\/strong> is an arts manager, drama educator and theatre practitioner. He graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (UK) with a degree in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education in 2015. Since then, he has taught and produced works both in Singapore and abroad.
