An offshoot of Aston (best known for its cheap but good Western fare), MANLE Hotpot dishes up a Teochew porridge feast over lunch and dinner at its two locations in Singapore. Customers can pick from a menu that includes 30 modern and traditional Teochew dishes, including\u00a0chye poh\u00a0<\/em>omelette and braised pork trotters. Heng Long doesn\u2019t offer a buffet and can be a little more expensive than your standard Teochew\u00a0muay<\/em>\u00a0fare. It\u2019s even been\u00a0in the news recently<\/a>\u00a0because disgruntled customers have started fights to protest against the prices charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But we think that\u2019s all a bit silly \u2013 the food is still great value for money and a definite favourite with the Grandmother Tongue<\/em> team! CK Chia<\/a><\/strong> loves how authentic the food is \u2013 \u201cI stand in the queue only can smell the Teochew-ness liao,\u201d he laughs. He loves the taukee<\/em> (beancurd skin) and brings the lor bak<\/em> (braised pork belly) home for his parents. Rei Poh<\/a><\/strong> recommends mixing the porridge with the stall\u2019s signature chilli, and swears by its sweet and sour pork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
