Led by President Joan Yim and her predecessor Betty Chen, the Chinese Women\u2019s Association (CWA) came out in full force for the matinee performance of\u00a0<em>Monkey Goes West<\/em>. They were joined by residents of Henderson Home, a service centre specialising in elder care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very happy to support W!LD RICE this year,\u201d explained Mrs. Yim after the show. \u201cIt\u2019s important to support the arts, especially our own local artists and theatre-makers!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A firm advocate of community action, the CWA has contributed to charitable and civic causes since its establishment in 1915. For several years, the CWA also managed Henderson Home, and is proud to maintain a close relationship with its staff and residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.wildrice.com.sg\/newsletter\/NL38\/05B.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"974\" height=\"649\"\/><figcaption>Mrs Joan Yim &amp; Mrs Betty Chen (5th and 6th from right)<br>and The Chinese Women\u2019s Association!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs. Yim was pleased to have had the opportunity to share the story of&nbsp;<em>Monkey Goes West<\/em>&nbsp;with many of Henderson Home\u2019s residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe story of the Monkey God is familiar to them even if they can\u2019t speak much English,\u201d she pointed out. \u201cI think they were all very happy to watch this hilarious musical that has such a beautiful moral message for audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/glutenfreepleasure.com\/__proxy_domain\/www.wildrice.com.sg\/newsletter\/NL38\/05C.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"973\" height=\"649\"\/><figcaption>The Chens with residents of Henderson Home!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Also present was Mrs. Betty Chen, who recently became our Golden Angel after making a very generous donation to W!LD RICE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy to help,\u201d she said with a huge smile. \u201cIt\u2019s all for a good cause \u2013&nbsp;<em>Monkey Goes West<\/em>&nbsp;showed us all how W!LD RICE is training the next generation of actors and artists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was particularly taken with the FIRST STAGE K!DS, who are an essential element of every single W!LD RICE pantomime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was really entranced by their talent!\u201d Mrs. Chen enthused. \u201cThey were wonderful \u2013 they each played multiple roles and were so good!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It was very moving to see the happy, glowing faces of the residents of Henderson Home,&#8221;
