To celebrate this milestone, we are proud to present a season that truly represents the best of WILD RICE. These productions have fired the public imagination in Singapore and around the world, and we are excited to reimagine them for our very intimate new theatre at Funan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the first six months of the year, you can expect to enjoy some of the world\u2019s most beloved classics, with a very WILD twist! Come and be swept away on a cloud of love and laughter by our cheeky all-male adaptation of Oscar Wilde\u2019s The Importance Of Being Earnest<\/em><\/strong>. And you\u2019re invited to a dinner party in our bold reimagining of J.B. Priestley\u2019s psychological thriller, An Inspector Calls<\/em><\/strong>, just before the spectre of a mysterious death shows up on the doorstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, we will be bringing back two modern Singaporean classics that WILD RICE is proud to call our own \u2013 Grandmother Tongue<\/em><\/strong>, a hilarious, heartbreaking look at the loss of dialects and how it has alienated our older generation; and HOTEL<\/em><\/strong>, a sweeping epic that will take you on an exhilarating adventure across a hundred years of Singapore history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019re also proud to serve as a venue showcasing the best of Singapore\u2019s performing arts scene. Check out Teater Ekamatra\u2019s Berak<\/em><\/strong>, a gripping examination of grief and grieving; the debut of The Concordia Quartet<\/strong> \u2013 Singapore\u2019s newest string quartet; In Our Manner of Speaking<\/em><\/strong>, The Opera People\u2019s thought-provoking song cycle that shines a spotlight on the stigma against HIV\/AIDS; and Jason Wee\u2019s arresting performance-installation, Quora Fora: A Rehearsal<\/em><\/strong>, for the 2019 Singapore Biennale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And that\u2019s just the first half of 2020! <\/p>\n\n\n\n Over the past 20 years, WILD RICE has blazed a trail, creating and presenting the best of Singapore theatre, touring the world whilst nurturing generations of young talents and audiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We would like to express our most profound gratitude to our patrons, supporters and WILD RICE Angels, without whom none of this would have been possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Last, but not least \u2013 thank you, dear audience, for your support.
