It’s not easy being in the public eye \u2013 as the cast of our upcoming production of Henrik Ibsen’s Public Enemy<\/em> can tell you! Over two days, our actors gathered from all over Singapore and<\/em> Malaysia for a photoshoot at Mark Law Photography Studio in Pasir Panjang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone familiar with Ibsen’s classic play would know that it deals with the morally grey areas that lie between telling the truth and fitting in with your community. It’s appropriate, then, that the colour palette for the shoot ranges from black to white and back again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with so much in theatre, each photoshoot is a collaborative effort. Everyone pitches in to ensure that everything looks as good as it possibly can through Mark’s camera lens. Director Glen Goei confers with graphic designer C.K. Chia and his cast on the emotion a particular photograph should convey. Our production executive, Sazali Hussain, hand-steams a black hoodie to ensure it was completely lint-free. Snacks are provided to keep everyone going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why, you might ask, is our cast posing with receptacles filled with water? Well, that’s because Public Enemy<\/em> is set in a spa town: one which derives its wealth from its waters. Health, however, is not on the cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivan plays Stockman, a scientist who just wants to let people know the truth. The water is toxic and is literally killing everyone, slowly. Lim Kay Siu plays the mayor, who also happens to be Stockman’s brother and would just like to sweep the potential scandal under the carpet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
