GALA NIGHT<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

After a rousing gala night performance of Cook A Pot Of Curry<\/em>, cast and audience members alike adjourned to Lowercase. With a bowl of yummy chicken curry in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, people talked excitedly about the show they’d just seen \u2013 sharing insights and ideas about the issues at hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems obvious to say it, but theatre really happens when… well, you move into the theatre. It’s when shows take up residence in a physical venue that lighting, sound, costume, design and performance all come together to create the true magic of theatre. FEST!VITIES<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The LASALLE campus has been humming with energy and activity all week \u2013 not simply because of the three shows we’re staging in its performance venues, but also because of the FEST!VITIES that have been organised to explore the issues, ideas and themes raised in Alfian’s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People have flocked to our Art & Life Session on immigration issues, which saw lively, impassioned debate and open, honest insights from our panel, which comprised Jolovan Wham (a social worker who focuses on the rights of migrant workers); Sreyashi Sen (a trained counselor who volunteers as an Integration and Naturalisation Champion); and Gilbert Goh (founder and president of transitioning.org, a support site for the unemployed and under-employed). Meanwhile, aspiring playwrights also gathered to learn from Alfian on just how one goes about Writing The Unwritable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening a show is always a huge thrill \u2013 imagine the electric charge in the air with W!LD RICE opening an entire festival of three shows in the space of a week! With up to 700 people attending our shows on any given night, the LASALLE campus is positively buzzing with activity.
