这些年，人工智能（Artificial Intelligence, 简称AI）的发展越来越神速和先进，大家都在谈论AI，连香港企业家李嘉诚在中国汕头大学2017届毕业典礼致辞都很时兴地提到AI。英国著名物理学家史蒂芬·霍金（Stephen Hawking）就多次对AI将对人类造成的威胁忧心忡忡。
霍金在2014年的言论较为悲观：
The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.
人工智能全面的发展或许将导致人类的灭亡。
Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn't compete, and would be superseded.
受限于缓慢的生物进化，人类将无法与人工智能竞争，而被取代。
他在2016年的发言较有所保留：
Every aspect of our lives will be transformed. In short, success in creating AI could be the biggest event in the history of our civilisation.
我们生活的各个层面都将被AI改变。总而言之，人类成功地创造出AI将会是我们文明史最大的一件事。
