2026 PSLE Oral Practice Topics and Model Answers – Part 1
The themes in this practice guide are based on oral topics shared by parents from different schools during the 2026 preliminary examination period. While these may not be the exact topics tested in the PSLE, they reflect issues that students may encounter in an oral examination.
Part 1 covers:
- Kindness, Consideration and Civic-mindedness
- Environment, Recycling and Community Service
- Technology and Family Time
- Technology and Behaviour in Public
*Update after the 2026 PSLE English Exam* – The 4th topic was very similar to the actual PSLE Day 1 Oral Exam and if students had practiced answering it, the same answer would have been very useful to answer the second question!

How to Use These Model Answers
These model answers are not meant to be memorised word for word. It is neither practical nor helpful for students to memorise an answer for every possible oral topic.
Instead, students can read the answers aloud and pay attention to the sentence starters and linking phrases in bold. These show different ways to:
- Express an opinion
- Develop an idea
- Introduce another reason
- Give an example
- Explain a consequence
- Consider another point of view
- End an answer naturally
The answers have also been structured to include clear points, elaboration, supporting examples and a link back to the question. However, these elements are not labelled because students should focus on speaking naturally rather than trying to remember a rigid formula.
With repeated exposure, phrases such as “Personally, I think…”, “Another reason is…”, “For instance…” and “Overall, I believe…” may gradually become part of the student’s natural speaking style.
Students should also change the personal examples so that they reflect their own experiences. A genuine but simple experience is usually easier to explain than an impressive story that has been memorised.
Practise Speaking, Not Memorising
Reading model answers can help students understand how a well-developed response sounds, but they also need opportunities to express their own ideas aloud.
After reading each example, try answering the same question again without looking at the model answer. The aim is not to reproduce every sentence. Instead, try using one or two of the highlighted sentence structures while giving your own points and examples.
Students can also practise these and other topics with Articulate Intelligence’s AI Oral Examiner. The conversational AI asks oral questions, responds with real-time follow-up questions and provides a personalised performance report after the practice session. It has both English and Chinese practices available.
Continue with 2026 PSLE Oral Practice Topics and Model Answers – Part 2, which covers family bonding, food waste, competitions, teamwork and public speaking. (I’ll post when its completed!)
These practice topics are provided for educational purposes and are not official PSLE questions or predictions.
