Dent repairs for bags are unlike those for cars. In the case for car dent repairs, after the dent is pushed out, a filler is used, and sand down before a new coat of paint is applied. This gives the repaired dent a nice smooth finish.
However, for luggage bags, where the dent is severe, with the plastic deformation, creases can remain after the dent is pushed out. To fill with putty and sand down and spray paint does not make sense, in part as the paint and putty can scrape off in the process of baggage check ins, and the beautiful finish would also be in the end damaged. The high cost to add these steps in the repair may hence make little sense. The dent repair is mainly to free back up the space in your luggage for your packing purpose. There is a risk of cracks when dents are pushed out, and where this occurs, a patch repair is needed for the cracks.
