Old Chengdu Restaurant – A Second Visit That Did Not Disappoint
We visited Old Chengdu Restaurant again today, and honestly, the fact that we came back the very next day says a lot about our experience here.
Yesterday, we had their Changfang noodles, and we enjoyed them so much that we decided to return and try them again. The best part was that the experience was just as good as yesterday. The noodles had the same delicious flavour, the same consistency, and the same authentic taste. Sometimes restaurants impress you on the first visit but fail to maintain the quality when you return — that was definitely not the case here. The food was well maintained, freshly prepared, and the flavours were spot on.
Today, we also tried the Shengfang wonton chicken, and this was another highlight. The wontons were delicious, but what really stood out was the soup. It was fabulous — comforting, flavourful, and rich without being overwhelming. It was the kind of soup you want to keep having even after finishing the dish.
What we particularly appreciate about Old Chengdu is that the food feels genuine, flavourful, and consistent. The restaurant doesn't seem to compromise on taste, and our second visit confirmed that yesterday's experience wasn't just a one-time thing.
If you're looking for authentic Chinese food with strong flavours, good-quality noodles, and comforting soups, I would definitely recommend giving Old Chengdu a try.
The Changfang noodles are a must-try, and if you enjoy soup-based dishes, don't miss the Shengfang wonton chicken.
We came back for the noodles — and ended up discovering another dish we really loved. Definitely one of the places in Singapore we would happily visit again.

There isn’t much of an ambience inside. It’s a small space with a few tables with people chatting and enjoying their food. However, if you are lucky, there is a karaoke happening right outside which is pretty fun!
The food:
Egg fried rice were decent. Made the mistake of ordering a Large for the two of us. It was too much. I found it a little too oily and lacking in seasoning.
Chilli wonton: Packed a punch. Quite nice
Kung pao chicken: Decent.
Greens (dont remember which ones) but they were great.
The service is quite prompt and polite too.
The prices, however, are on a higher end.

The room is spacious and can accommodate 8 people. The Sichuan food is delicious, and I will definitely return. It's a nice place for business meetings and family gatherings. I love the mahjong table, but unfortunately, it's not working.
