BIM Execution Plan Implementation in Singapore

What is a bim execution plan?

A BIM Execution Plan (BEP) is developed to successfully implement Building Information Modelling (BIM) on a project throughout its lifecycle. It serves as a reference document that helps the BIM team establish clear requirements, responsibilities, processes, and quality standards for successful BIM implementation in Singapore.

A BIM Execution Plan enables BIM team members to:

  • Clearly understand the goals for implementing BIM in the project.
  • Understand their roles and responsibilities for model creation, maintenance, and collaboration at different stages of the project.
  • Design a suitable process to participate in the implementation.
  • Define the content, level of detail, and when the model is to be delivered to meet project objectives.
  • Provide a baseline plan to measure progress throughout the project
  • Define contract language to ensure all project members fulfil their obligations
  • Define the quality control measures to ensure all project members meet the project standards

Corenet BIM Execution Template

A BIM Execution Plan Template is a baseline document used when preparing a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) for a BIM project. This document is one of the essential guides provided by the Singapore authority, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), and can be found on the BCA’s website.

Implement Your BIM Execution Plan With Us

Before creating a BEP, it is important for our BIM Managers to understand the project specifications in order to fully customise the BEP to meet the project’s BIM deliverables.

After identifying the project BIM needs, our BIM Manager can start preparing the BIM Execution Plan for the project using the BEP Template as a starting point.

Throughout the project duration, the assigned BIM Manager shall update the document as and when changes arise. Typically, an Assistant BIM Manager or a BIM Coordinator shall assist the BIM Manager in preparing this document.

Once the document is complete and approved by the client, it is important for the BIM Manager to ensure that all BIM team members adhere to the project BIM standards and information laid out in the BEP.

common problems faced with bim implementation

Based on our company’s experience in creating BEPs for our clients, we have realised that many BEPs are created primarily to comply with authority submission requirements.

For example, a client may require a BEP to be created for a tender submission. Upon winning the tender, the BEP may not be used as the basis for the actual project BIM execution. In addition, the contents of the BEP may be insufficient to cover all the project standards needed to ensure that BIM deliverables are fully met.

As a result, some BEPs are simply abandoned at the start of the project lifecycle because they are not usable for the actual project requirements.

how can we help?

AcePLP is committed to creating viable BIM Execution Plans that drive productivity on the construction site. A continually evolving BIM Execution Plan helps maintain BIM model consistency across a large project.

By implementing regular quality checks, we ensure that BIM project standards remain consistent and can be followed by project BIM team members throughout the project.

WE SUPPORT ALL BIM software
