How To Paint Your House Like A Pro?

How To Paint Your House Like A Pro? Painting the walls is one of the easiest ways to transform the environment. However, if you don’t know how to do it, the task can quickly become an absolute nightmare.

Knowledge of painting techniques and tips is what separates an amateur painter from true professionals. Below are painting tricks to use if you want to break through that barrier and paint any room in your home flawlessly.

1. Prepare your new roller

No matter what type of roller you have, wipe it with a damp cloth before using it for the first time. This will help you get rid of loose fibers that can dull the final finish of your application.

2. Buy quality paints

Using good quality paint is the first step in making a painting look professional. The best materials can cost a little more; however, the durability will be longer, and the result will be much more excellent than a cheaper alternative.

3. Prepare the wall

Just as important as the wall painting itself is surface preparation before starting the job. This means that any cracked or peeling areas need to be lightly sanded or scraped off before applying primer and paint.

Greasy stains also need to be removed with a bit of soap and water. Holes should be filled to maintain surface uniformity.

Even if the wall has no imperfections, be sure to do a cleaning to remove all the dust. Thus, the paint will have better adhesion, and the result will be more professional.

4. Mix the paints

There is a variation of shade in each batch of the same color. So, ideally, you should have an estimate of how much paint you really need and buy it all at once.

If it is necessary to use more than a gallon, do as the professionals and mix the paints. That way, you get consistent color from start to finish.

5. Use an undercoat

The undercoat has three main functions:

It blocks stains on the wall.
It allows for better coverage with a single coat of paint.
It improves ink adhesion, which considerably reduces problems with blisters and peeling.

In this step, one of the main professional painting tips is to apply the undercoat in the shade close to the color of the paint. This trick is even more valuable if you are going to paint the wall in a dark color as it helps to achieve optimal coverage while using less paint.

6. Use the W Trick

This is one of the most valuable painting tips. Paint a letter “W” on the wall and use it to continue painting.

This will ensure more excellent color uniformity as you have more control over the amount of paint on the entire surface and also prevent roller smudging.

7. Paint from top to bottom

An amateur’s paint job often has drops and splashes of paint at the end. On the other hand, a professional painter corrects the mistakes as they roll the paint roller down the wall. So always remember to paint from top to bottom to achieve a uniform and truly professional look.

8. Cover the floor with cardboard

Cardboard or newspaper are the best alternatives for covering the floor while painting the walls. Plastic is not recommended as the paint takes longer to dry when dropped.

That way, you have more chances of stepping on and leaving the whole house dirty. In cardboard, the ink dries quickly, avoiding dirt.

9. Try to paint in dry weather

As much as possible, carry out your painting jobs in a dry climate, as humidity will slow down drying and cause drips. If you have to paint when it is wet or in rainy seasons, you can take advantage of the drying time to correct errors in the first coat.

10. Be patient

Do not rush! Wait for all areas to be completely dry to remove masking tape and newspapers from the floor. Soak clothes you’ve worn overnight in soapy water to help remove paint stains.
