Visit different websites and compare their terms and conditions before you finally settle on one. If you have specific needs, find out if the handymen you are considering can do them.

2. Ask for reference:
You may not know the best person to do your handyman jobs, especially if it is your first time. That is why it is very important for you to ask for reference before settling on a handyman company or anyone who operates independently. You can read online reviews so that you get an idea of what they are capable of doing, and their overall ratings from the people who have worked with them. Additionally, you can ask for reference from friends and family who have used them before, so that you get a closer review on the quality of the services they provide.

3. Compare and contrast:
One of the best ways of landing the right handyman who will give you the services you require is to identify a number of them, look at their testimonials, and then arrange personal or phone interviews with them. When you do an interview, you will be able to identify who is more efficient, and who is likely to give you exactly what you want. During the interview, you can ask them about their experiences. their strengths, other services they can provide, their weakness, and how they do their pricing. When you have several handymen to choose from, you are likely to settle for what you feel is the best.

4. Go for one with insurance:
can you imagine what would happen if something went wrong during the normal repairs? What if they break something in your home, or even worse, what if they get injured while they are working for you? You do not want to suffer the pain of looking for ways to sort that kind of emergency, do you? That is why it is advisable that you only contract a handyman who has insurance, to make things easier. If you are working with a company, make sure that the individuals they send are covered against any liability.

5. Have a written contract:
If you ask people who constantly work with handymen on some of the best practices, they will tell you that you have to write everything down. Never work with a handyman who is not willing to have a written agreement with you. Put all the important details in written forms. For instance, how you will pay them, their charges, the services they will provide, and other important details. Failure to have a written contract with your handyman can result into legal issues that can drag on forever.

6. Have an estimate/plan:
As much as your handyman might be able to do everything you need, it would be helpful if you have an estimate of how much you will spend. This is not limited to the amount you will pay the handyman. It also includes the time they will spend working in your household. Therefore, before you hire any handyman, have an estimate, and then find a way of working around it. Of course, you do not have to be rigid with your estimates. You should be open to ideas from professionals, and other people who have experience.

7. Remember that price doesn’t always equal quality of work:
The biggest mistake you can make when sourcing for a handyman in Singapore is using price as the main determinant on who you work with. Just because they are charging you a low amount doesn’t mean that they are giving you the best deal. On the other hand, a handyman charging you a high amount does not mean that they will give you the best services. As a rule, always consider their professionalism before you think about the amount they are charging.

8. Ask them to brief you on how they plan to go about their work:
Once you have settled on the handyman you want to work with, ask them to present you with a plan on how they intent to go about their work. In their plan, they should tell you how many days/hours they plan to work, who will accompany them in their work, and other basics of how their services will be. Not only does this show professionalism, but it also gives you a chance to work within a well laid out schedule.
