Project Details

We provided legal advisory services to an energy association regarding a dispute with a service provider. Our scope of work included reviewing all relevant correspondences, including engagement letters, and drafting a comprehensive legal opinion under Singapore law. This legal opinion assessed the nature of the invoices issued by the service provider and explored whether there was a legal basis to request itemized billing.

We also reviewed the Singapore Companies Act 1967 to determine if the service provider acted within its legal obligations and whether any provisions of the Act could be used to compel the service provider to issue detailed invoices. Additionally, we drafted arguments related to corporate governance and other relevant areas that the client could use to demand clear and substantiated invoices.

Our services also included drafting key questions for the client to present to the service provider and exploring whether the service provider was regulated in Singapore, along with any additional remedies that might be available. Finally, we identified potential contractual remedies that the client could pursue and circulated the draft legal opinion for the client’s review, finalizing it for their retention.

Outcome

As a result of our legal services, the client was equipped with a robust legal strategy to address their dispute with the service provider. They were empowered to request itemized invoices, utilize provisions of the Singapore Companies Act, and present strong arguments to ensure accurate billing. The association was also provided with potential remedies, enhancing their position to resolve the dispute and protect their interests.
