7 Ways To Stay Faithful In A Relationship

Infidelity is one of the main reasons why relationships fail. People cite many reasons as to why they sometimes feel the need to look for another person outside their relationships. The truth of the matter is, you can stay faithful in your relationship if you put your mind to it. The following are 7 ways to stay faithful in a relationship and ensure that you do not stray and ruin your chances of having a happy and fulfilling relationship with one partner.

1. Acknowledge the fact that you are in a relationship

If you want to remain faithful, then the first step for you is to accept that you are in a relationship. This means that you should always bear in mind that there will be other attractive people around you, but you do not have to go after them because you are already in a relationship. As simple as that! Once you are involved with someone else, respect them and do all you can to avoid entangling yourself with other people.

2. Remember positive things about your partner

Whenever you get the temptation to cheat on your partner, remind yourself of the reason why you fell in love with them in the first place. Think about your partner and the positive things that makes you get so drawn into them. Anytime the urge to cheat creeps up, ask yourself what it would mean to you to lose your partner. When you focus on the positives, you will realize that being unfaithful is not worth it at all.

3. Keep the joys of being in love alive

For many people, what leads to cheating is when they get too comfortable in the relationship. When a relationship is just starting, everything seems so captivating, and you want to spend all your time with your new lover. However, as time goes by, things slow down and this could lead to cheating in an effort to search for new thrill. You do not have to be with someone else other than your partner for you to be happy. Instead, you should work towards nourishing your relationship. Do not stop having fun together, going out on dates and spending time with each other even when you have been in the relationship for a long time.

4. Solve your conflicts as soon as they arise

If you are having issues with your partner, it is better to find the right ways to solve them so that you do not end up feeling resentful. Unresolved issues always lead to having an unhappy relationship, which could encourage cheating as a way of dealing with the issues. If you want to be faithful, make sure that you sort any conflict that arises between you and your partner.

5. Let other people know that you are in a relationship

It goes without saying that if you want to be faithful, you should not hide your relationship status from other people. If someone is making a move at you, it is only right for you to inform them that you are in a relationship and you do not intend to cheat on your partner. Make a deliberate effort to turn down invites from people who you feel do not respect your relationship, and those who might lead you into cheating. You can also try taking your partner with you whenever you are going out, to reduce chances of engaging with people who might make you cheat

6. Communicate openly

The best relationships are those that lay a foundation of open communication and honesty. Make your partner your best friend. tell them what you feel, and ways in which you can make the relationship better. In short, do not hold things back from them and choose to confide in someone else. When you decide to share details of your life with someone else who is not your partner, you risk developing an emotional attachment with them, which could ultimately lead to cheating.

7. Accept that your partner has flaws

Most people always say that the reason they stopped being faithful to their partners is because of the faults and mistakes they did in the relationship. Basically, they are running away from the flaws that their partners have. This is not practical, because nobody is perfect, and no matter how far you search for someone who doesn’t have a flaw, you will never find any. So, whenever you are getting into a relationship, have realistic goals. Know that your partner is not perfect, so instead of focusing on the negatives, concentrate on the positive things that make them interesting and different.

Basically, you can make a deliberate choice not to cheat on your partner. It takes a high level of communication, awareness and understanding, but it is possible. Once you learn how to be happy with one person, you will be surprised at how fulfilling your relationship will be.
