Pool Maintenance & Cleaning Tips. Having a swimming pool in your home is incredible as you can enjoy swimming when the weather is hot and humid. Using a swimming pool is the easy part but cleaning and maintaining it can be quite a handful. If you are overwhelmed with other activities, you should prefer hiring a pool cleaning and maintenance service. These service providers usually have the right tools that will help you maintain a healthy and pristine pool. If you choose to clean and maintain your pool, there are a few tips that will help you get the job done with ease.

Pool Maintenance & Cleaning Tips-
Pool vacuuming

This is a mandatory activity and should be carried out every week to reduce the chemicals that normally added to the water. Choosing the kind of vacuum you need will depend highly on the type of pool you have. It is important to clean the filter every time after you are done with a vacuuming session. Failing to clean the filters would mean that the water entering the pool would get dirty or muddy. Ideally, the filters are supposed to be serviced and cleaned after every 50 operations.

Carefully brush the pool sides and wall

The sides and walls of the pool must be brushed carefully in order to minimize the formation of calcium and algae. The materials used to clean the walls and sides should be carefully chosen. For example, vinyl and fiberglass walls require soft brushes whereas concrete walls would be well cleaned using a hard brush. A pumice stone or muriatic acid will be of great assistance.

-Another part of the pool that needs proper maintenance is the pool heaters. They should be well maintained as calcium tends to scale up the tubes of the heater and curb effective heating of the water. If this happens then professional assistance should be the best choice as the heater may have to be dismantled, cleaned and installed once again.

-Another important point to check on is the water level. During the swimming season, a lot of water gets lost due to evaporation and wear and tear. You should be keen to check the water level from time to time especially when using a skimmer to remove debris from the pool. It is wise to maintain the exact level of water in the pool.

Monitor the pool filters

Filters are an important part of any pool and it serves the purpose of eliminating the possibility of the water being contaminated. A filter can be activated by manual means or by a timer. Due to some conditions which the pool may come under at various times, it is important that they are cleaned after every few months.

Chlorine and bromine

The water in your pool has to be protected and disinfected using chlorine or bromine. Most people use chlorine. This is effective especially if the pool water has not been specifically heated. Alternatively, if the water has been subjected to any kind of heating, then bromine is the most ideal choice. It would be easier for any homeowner to purchase chlorine and this is why it is widely used as compared to bromine.

Look out for any leaks

This is a big part of ensuring that you are able to spot any damage to your pool. Any sign that your pool has a leak is simply if you find out that water is getting lost and therefore it is very important to check the level of water at the beginning and the end of the day. For instant, if you find out that you are losing about an inch in the level of water during the day, you should try finding the exact problem with your pool which may turn out to be leakage.
