Global Arbitration Review; Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Conference 2026

Global Arbitration Review; Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Conference 2026

Mark Lee Chambers Law Corporation (“ML Chambers”) continues to strengthen its international arbitration practice.

2026, in particular, saw ML Chambers’ most extensive involvement with the Global Arbitration Review’s Asia-Pacific International Arbitration Conference (“GAR Live: APAC 2026”).

ML Chambers is privileged to not only be one of the main sponsors of this annual international conference but also to have our Managing Director Mark Lee sit as an executive member on its GAR Steering Committee. GAR Live: APAC 2026 covered a broad range of topics:-

  1. How AI is reshaping the law: turning concern into opportunity
  2. Energy infrastructure amidst conflict, sanctions and supply disruption
  3. Political risk and investment protection: when states become respondents
  4. Infrastructure in crisis: regulation, state intervention and project survival

Our Mr Lee, in particular, shared his views on how there is a fundamental need to keep the arbitration process efficient and cost-effective lest it loses favour with commercial parties and, more importantly, if not safeguarded may tarnish arbitration’s legitimacy or even potentially corrode the rule of law.

Mr Lee maintained that many attributes continue to make arbitration valuable: its flexibility, its expertise, its neutrality, and its ability to resolve international disputes outside national courts but it is important that all stakeholders have a candid conversation about the rising costs, duration of arbitral proceedings and transparency of arbitrators’ performance.
