ST Engineering unit bags contract to upgrade Formidable-class frigates of MINDEF

The company expects to complete the upgrade of the first frigate in 2028.

ST Engineering Marine, an ST Engineering subsidiary, has secured a contract with the Ministry of Defence for the mid-life upgrade of its Formidable-class Frigates for the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).

ST Engineering will design and engineer the frigate’s marine and electrical systems upgrades, including the frigate’s Ship Management System and Power Generation System.

ST Engineering Marine will conduct the upgrading works progressively and expects to complete the upgrade of the first frigate in 2028.

“This contract is a testament to our naval expertise, demonstrating our competence in extending the operational life of the Formidable-class Frigates. These upgrades are crucial to ensure the effectiveness of these Frigates, enhancing Singapore’s defence and security. We are committed to supporting MINDEF in ensuring the continued mission effectiveness of this important capability,” Tan Leong Peng, President of Marine at ST Engineering said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
