SG Budget 2022 to focus on strengthening post-pandemic economy

Minister Lawrence Wong also acknowledged the difficulties faced by sectors.

Re-positioning Singapore’s position in a post-COVID world is the main focus of the Lion City’s budget in 2022, according to a speech given by Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong.

Wong said that there will be a creation of more opportunities for all Singaporeans and the transformation of the economy.

He also reiterated support for sectors that continue to face difficulties and immediate concerns of Singaporean citizens, such as the cost of living. Greener initiatives were also announced as one of the goals.

"This year, we are experiencing the Omicron wave. The daily infected cases are higher than before. But fortunately, the vast majority of vaccinated persons only have mild symptoms. So, we will do our best to ride through this Omicron wave without having to tighten our existing measures."

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
