Some restaurants have been on the lookout for workers to fill about 1,000 positions as business picked up with the return of dine-in services, but for more than a month, there have been no takers.

These positions were made available as early as 14 September, when Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing said that the Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) is working with its members to provide more than 1,000 job opportunities to retrenched staff from Singapore Airlines (SIA).

According to the RAS on 30 October, none of the positions offered has been taken up.

From PropertyGuru:

A bill passed in Parliament on 3 November extended the deadline of all construction contracts by four months due to COVID-19’s impact on the construction sector, reported TODAY.

Homebuyers can also seek reimbursement from developers, including the Housing and Development Board (HDB), for out-of-pocket costs due to construction delays, such as when they would have to rent a place for a longer period.

Private property buyers can be reimbursed by up to 70% of the liquidated damages payable in the purchase agreement.

For HDB flats buyers, the formula is 10% per year of 60% of the new flat price.

Any disputes arising from reimbursement claims will be resolved by an independent assessor.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
